In 2010 SNOS starts designing and preparatory works on waste water treatment facilities revamping.
It is one of points within the Company’s environmental program. In 2010 SNOS plans to invest about RUB 200 mln into the project.The program is to be implemented in conformity with the enforcements of the Water Strategy of the Russian Federation. The Water Strategy projects up to 2020 and the plan of their implementation were approved by the Government of the Russian Federation on August 20, 2009.
The treatment facilities revamping is to result in a higher quality of waste water purification in conformity with the modern standards and increased volumes of purified sewage used for feeding the circulating water supply system of the Company’s plants instead of river water.
The purpose of the modernization is to decrease the volumes of sludge simultaneously making it harmless for the environment, to cut operational costs and reduce the treatment facilities area.
Moreover, it is planned to involve the latest scientific and technical achievements concerning biogenic elements removal and to introduce a rational technology of sewage sludge treatment and recovery.
The revamping will provide for increased efficiency and safe operation of the facilities thanks to state-of-the-art equipment for residential and industrial waste water treatment.
The Water Strategy is to be implemented in two stages. At the first stage (2009-2012) top priorities include more effective protection from negative influence of waste water, minimization of harmful environmental impacts and better water supply in some regions. The second stage (2013-2020) embraces water utilization system revamping, development of sci-tech data bank and engineering capability, introduction of innovative technologies, staffing.
