February 4, 2010, Meleuz, Republic of Bashkortostan: under the auspices of All-Russian Program Gazprom to Children a swimming pool was opened. The ceremony was attended by Yury Vazhenin, Director General of Gazprom Pererabotka LLC. The only swimming pool in Meleuz and the most popular place among the city residents, the sports facility had been closed for more than six months.
Meleuz Mineral Fertilizers JSC invested RUB 20 mln into the reconstruction project which included replacing physically deteriorated and obsolete equipment together with the utility systems falling short of accepted standards. Besides, emphasis was made on ecological properties of materials used and on high-quality water purification.
Now the swimming pool has up-to-date water treatment equipment installed including a triplex system of water purification; its ventilation system is replaced, big and small pools’ basins and premises repaired as well as the heating, water and energy supply installations, plumbing and the fire and security alarm.
So, all necessary conditions are provided in Meleuz for hosting republican and All-Russian swimming competitions. For promotion of this sport it is planned to recruit competent coaches who will not just teach children to swim but foster future champions.
“The program Gazprom to Children is oriented at giving our kids more opportunities to live life to the full”, Mr. Vazhenin noted. “Facilities similar to this swimming pool let our children be strong so that we can have healthy younger generations”.
